It only takes up 1 station port on the Norstar system, but provides 2 channels of use ~ 2 parties can access the voicemail system simultaneously (2 outside callers, 2 internal users, or combination of each). By adding a firmware chip, the unit can double in capacity, which may be of value if growth is anticipated. Flash voicemails operate on RAM chips or "flash" memory technology and contain no moving parts.
